In 2022, the traditional teaching was challenged with the repeated outbreaks. In order to protect our students from COVID-19 , Lize International Academy has implemented non-contact online teaching since November 21.

The week of LIA students began with the online national flag raising ceremony on Monday morning. Although the students faced the national flag on the screen, they still stood up quickly and held their heads high when they heard the national anthem. At the end of the ceremony, with Miao as the host who came from the Grade 10 Harvard class, Zhang from the same class delivered an English speech on the theme of gratitude. His fluent language and powerful sentences encouraged every student who participated.

Next, teachers began to teach daily courses according to the timetable: English is an indispensable subject in international schools, and it is also the subject that best demonstrates teachers' personal teaching style.

In order to create a pleasant class atmosphere, Ms. Liu encouraged students to discuss World Cup topics in English before class, which mobilized the passion of students. Of course, Ms. Liu herself also participated in, and created a scene of happiness and harmony.

In the face of the bad score that students had gained in the last practice class, even Ms. Jia, who always liked to laugh, pointed out the loopholes in the students' knowledge seriously. After seeing that the students had learned a lesson, she admired their progress with a smile.

The immersive Western style class brought by foreign teachers was a characteristic course that can only be experienced only in international schools. Mr.  Lewis introduced the grammar knowledge with the theme of holidays, and also enlivened the classroom atmosphere from time to time with some interesting stories of his own during the holidays.

Compared with quiet English courses, science courses were more "rough". Mr. Li's teaching aids for physics were quite abundant. He sometimes picked up a voltmeter and ammeter to show experiments for students, and sometimes pointed at the blackboard, vividly combined the explanation of physical phenomena and principles. The concise and straightforward explanation made it easy for students to “digest”.

The chemistry teacher——Ms. Zhang's course was relatively "elegant". In order to make it easier for students to see blackboard on the screen, as a senior teacher of the Beijing No.12 High School, she could skillfully use the digital board and use the blackboard on the screen, which reduced the burden of writing while allowing students to see more clearly, declining the use of chalk also contributed to environmental protection. It can be described as a model for teachers in the new era.

Of course, this does not mean that tradition is a bad thing. Another Ms. Zhang, the representative of the traditional teachers, had continued her teaching style for more than 20 years. In the face of unfamiliar full English textbooks, she was not worried at all. She implemented the sentence "It is never too late to learn" with actions, and combined her rich teaching experience in domestic textbooks with American AP and British A Level/IGCSE courses to help students better understand mathematics.

In addition to classes, examinations are also an important part of learning and life. As the old saying goes, there are three things that are inevitable in the student's life: class, homework and exams. After studying, we need to use exams to check the results of students' "digestion". The students turned on the camera at home, as if they were in a real examination room. They were nervous but confident. At the same time, the teachers supervised the "examination room" to maintain the order.

In conclusion, at the beginning, the students worried that they would be distracted during online courses, or they could not hear the teachers clearly, even their study time at home would be irregular. But after the beginning of the course, we found that these worries were unnecessary. Let's listen to the voice of the students:

The overall feeling of the online class is still good. The teachers are very conscientious and responsible, and the efficiency of the class is also good. The only thing is that the teachers' network cards are a little frequent, which is much better in the future. I also like online classes, probably because the school is far away from home, so I don't have to get up before 6:00 every day.—— Lan Zichen, Cambridge class, Grade 10

I think the overall situation of online classes this week is fairly good for me. After all, it is convenient to contact teachers online, hand in homework, watch replay and so on. Learning efficiency has no great impact on me, and there is plenty of time after class, so homework can be completed.——Yang Mingyue, Harvard Class, Grade 10

The epidemic situation stopped us from offline learning, and the first problem of online teaching was the efficiency of listening. In order to solve this problem, the school teachers and students held a meeting and finally decided to open the camera to teach and regulate the location. At the same time, ask students as many questions as possible. Sometimes the teacher can not fully understand the online problem solving of students, but also shows patience and detailed explanation. Of course, there are also some small problems. For example, some interactions can be appropriately increased. However, the teachers' dedication makes me think that the quality of online teaching is not compromised.——Yang Guang, OSSD Class, Grade 11

With dedicated teachers and hard-working students, Lize International Academy is confident and able to face new challenges in the current online teaching and find its place in the world!
